Kyoorius Design Awards 2023 - Identity Design

It Ain't Pretty

Our brief was simple (in theory) - to come up with a visual identity for India’s biggest design awards show - Kyoorius Design Awards, and after our research and many explorations, this is the route we landed on. My role on this project involved ideating and creating assets for their social media.

Leonardo Da Vinci studied 30 corpses before drawing ‘The Vitruvian Man’ (c 1490)

Michelangelo painted on his back for four years to finish 'The Sistine Chapel' (1508-1520)

Salvador Dali almost lost his mind painting 'The Persistence of Memory' (1931)

Great pieces of art often have a story of pain and anguish behind it.

While art is beautiful to look at, the process of making art isn't always.

Designers spend hours looking at the same artwork. Check each pixel to see if everything is aligned. Expose themselves to a spectrum of colors for hours till their eyes become numb. Work through multiple iterations. Tackle numerous rounds of feedback.

Deal with self-doubt, creative blocks and lack of sleep...

All of this isn't a pretty picture

This visual route is an ode to the designing process which every artist goes through. Each fragment embodying the hours invested and the challenges embraced.

The oversaturated colours. The dedication etched in every pixel. The claustrophobic nature. The chorus of CTRL+Zs.

The self-doubt, the mistakes…

And the beauty in all of this.

Through a synesthetic tapestry of colors, we unveil the bits of information that breathe life into our designs.

These elements are not just missteps; they're a testament to the relentless pursuit of perfection.
